I began working with Incedo Group almost sixteen months ago. As an attorney in a small firm, I was training two other attorneys and related staff while supervising two of our major practice areas. Of course, I also shouldered responsibility for obtaining and servicing my own clients. Obtaining and servicing clients had never been a problem for me in the past, but the interruptions I was experiencing from the other attorneys and staff soon grew to such an extent that client service became problematic. Working more hours did not solve the underlying problems, and I was beginning to burn out.

Incedo Group was recommended to me by a colleague, so I decided to contact them to see if they could help. Calling Incedo Group was one of the most significant telephone calls I have ever made. Within a few coaching sessions my coach at Incedo Group helped me develop a personally tailored schedule that enabled me to regain control over my work days. In short, I learned that it was okay to say to my staff “No, I can’t help you right now, but I promise I will see you later today to answer your questions.”

Within several weeks I had re-taken control of my practice and was progressing through the accumulated backlog of client work. Remarkably, after a few short weeks, I was able to convince my staff that my time was as valuable as theirs, and that their questions could actually wait until I finished with a particular task. Not being a person skilled in saying “no” to others, this was not a solution I could have developed on my own.

Needless to say, some in the office were not pleased with my decision. One person essentially refused to speak with me for almost two weeks. My coach helped me handle this situation tactfully, and in a business-like manner. I know I would not have been able to achieve that breakthrough without the help and support of my coach.

There have been many other instances since then where my coach’s insightful analysis has helped me navigate difficult issues. I am still meeting with my coach twice a month and each session is helpful in ways I could not have imagined before I called Incedo Group last year.
